The housing market in Norway, especially Oslo, is lackluster in age and situational diversity. Young people’s chances are low and continuous market growth makes it even more difficult.

Insights first
After a vast analysis of DNBs market and the possibilities beyond, we started collecting data. Through street interviews, user surveys and in-depth interviews we experienced that the housing market in Norway is a discriminatory one. Speaking with stakeholders and our DNB advisor further strengthened our theories, and our primary focus became first time buyers.
With the policies of not qualifying for a loan. without 15% equity, and income at 1/5 of the total loan, it became clear that saving and investment might not be enough for most people. Young adult homeowners had either gotten financial aid from parents and friends, or had been extremely lucky with the home they bought. Homeowners with more than 5 years of ownership has also benefitted from the increase in price over the past decade.
The solution has a delicate balance - Solsikkeordningen creates real value for real people
Solution space
The brief stated that we should create something that DNB is likely to introduce into their portfolio of products. It should be feasible, but also creative and innovative.
Our proposed solution became “Solsikkeordningen”:
A safe investment opportunity for home owners with large equity in their homes, and the possibility for people outside of the homeowner market to get the necessary equity.
With testing, number crunching and compliance checking, the final service was created. We also created a road map for the implementation of the service.
See slides under this paragraph for a visual explanation of the service.
This project was a part of the exam delivery for “DSS3100 Digital Servicestrategi”. The brief itself came from DNB, and the solution was created by Mathias Ek, Bendik Eikeland, Celine Håndlykken and myself. My role in the project was gathering insights, analyzing data and creating the service itself. As most of my projects most of the visual concept is invented and executed by me - on this project in compliance with DNB’s existing visual
